NICK COLEMAN

After graduating from Texas Tech University, Nick attended USAF Pilot training at Vance AFB, OK.  At pilot training he flew both the T-37B and the T-38.  After earning his wings, he was selected to be a T-37B Instructor Pilot.  He has logged over 1000 hours of “Tweet” time in the jet and the simulator.  After his T-37 Instructor tour, he flew the C-130 on active duty, in the Air Force Reserve and the Kentucky Air National Guard.  In the C-130 he served as Aircraft Commander, Instructor Pilot and Pilot Evaluator.  He retired with 31 years of active flying in the Air Force.

Nick started flying and building airplanes while still in High School.  To date, he has built/rebuilt a Clipped-Wing Taylorcraft, a Long-Ez, a Taperwing Waco, Steen Skybolt and a Pitts.  He regularly flies the Waco and the Clipped-Wing Taylorcraft on the air show circuit.

Nick is in his 29th year as a pilot for UPS airlines.  He started as a Flight Engineer on the 747 and then flew the DC-8, Airbus A-300 and the MD-11.  He is currently a MD-11 Captain and MD-11 Check Airman in the simulator.

While instructing in the T-37, Nick was selected to fly Tweet tail # 72267 for its last flight to the “Bone Yard” at Davis-Monthan AFB.  Nick’s professional carrer started with the T-37 and now with Project Tweet he is excited about the opportunity to return to his Tweet roots.
